Heaven & Earth Kick Off European Tour

Heaven & Earth, whose album, Dig, produced by Dave Jenkins, landed on the top 10 Best Vintage Rock Studio Albums of 2013, open their European tour tonight at the O2 Academy in Birmingham, England.

The tour will take the band throughout the UK, playing mostly 02 Academies, then move onto Switzerland for the Montreux Jazz Festival, and into Holland and Germany for additional dates. The tour wraps with more gigs in England.

Heaven & Earth’s lineup for the tour features founding guitarist Stuart Smith, singer Joe Retta, bassist Lynn Sorensen, keyboardist Ty Bailie and drummer Jackie Barnes.
Speaking with at the tour’s dress rehearsal in Los Angeles, Smith said: “We’re really looking forward to Europe. It’s where the band belongs.” He’s especially excited to play England, where he was born and raised.

While Smtih and Retta continually write new material with hopes of recording a follow-up to Dig, the focus is now on playing live. “We need to gig a while,” the guitarist said.
Smith also hinted that special guests, maybe his friends in Deep Purple, may show up to jam at some of the shows.
