Reconfigured King Crimson Announce Tour Dates

King Crimson has expanded their tour to 17 shows. A reunion has been discussed since last fall but it wasn't until today that any firm plans have emerged.

Eight dates in four cities have been announced for September and October with enough empty space in the calendar that additional shows are almost certain.

Leader and sole founding member Robert Fripp said: "King Crimson is returning to active service. We are on-call to be ready for a live performance on September 1, 2014. Seven members: four English, three American. Three drummers. It’s a different configuration of King Crimson than before. Some are familiar names, maybe more than others."

The lineup:

Jakko Jakszyk (lead vocal, guitar) - New to the group, he has recorded six solo albums and has been involved in such projects as Jakszyk Fripp Collins, 21st Century Schizoid Band and 64 Spoons)

Robert Fripp (guitar, mellotron, guitar synth/MIDI guitar) - Has been part of every version of King Crimson.

Tony Levin (bass, Chapman sticks, synthesizer) - Was a member of King Crimson from 1981 to 1984, 1994 to 1998 and 2003 to today. He has also toured regularly with Peter Gabriel along with much studio work.

Mel Collins (saxophone, flute, mellotron) - An early member of the band from 1970 to 1972, along with guesting in other eras. He has also played with the likes of Camel and the Alan Parsons Project.

Pat Mastelotto (acoustic and electronic drums, percussion) - A member since 1994, he has also worked with Mr. Mister.

Gavin Harrison (drums) - Joined King Crimson in 2007. He has previously played with Renaissance and Porcupine Tree along with sessions with numerous other artists.

Bill Rieflin (drums) - A new member of the group, has previously played with Ministry, the Revolting Cocks, KMFDM, Swans, Nine Inch Nails, R.E.M. and many others including The Humans with Robert Fripp, Chris Wong and Toyah Willcox.
