Next month, on October 10-12 at the LAX Marriott, The Fest for Beatles Fans 2014 makes its long-awaited homecoming to Los Angeles as it reopens for the first time in the city at the original location last hosted in 2000.
Thousands of vendors, special guests, and visitors from across the world will make their way to the City of Angels as the celebrated 50th anniversary of the Beatles U.S. invasion begins to come to a close at the end of the year. With an astonishing array of Beatles merchandise - no matter how rare - odds are that it will be found here. For sale will be collectibles, recordings, videos, Beatles autographs, books, photos, posters, art, & more.
The featured exhibitor at this year's Beatles marketplace will include the largest collection of vintage memorabilia and vinyl at the fest showcased by the venerable Rockaway Records based in Silverlake. The highlighted item of the fest to be shown by owner Wayne Johnson features a piece of the stage backdrop that was used on February 9, 1964 for the Beatles historic debut appearance on The Ed Sullivan show signed by the Fab Four ($550,000). The Beatles live American debut on The Ed Sullivan Show remains one the most significant cultural touchstones of the 20th century. To own a significant artifact signed on that monumental day - not only in Beatles history but in music history - is in fact owning a piece of music history.
Among the thousands of additional items from Rockaway Records for sale at the fest include everything from the first U.S. Beatles contract with Vee Jay Records from 1963 ($100,000) to a copy of the legendary "Butcher" cover LP ($4,500), surrounded by a huge array of vintage Beatles memorabilia.
"We have been attending and selling at Beatles conventions for over 30 years, but we have never had such an amazing assortment of vintage Beatles memorabilia and vinyl until now," said Wayne Johnson, owner Rockaway Records. "We will have something for every Beatle fan with items priced as low as $5 to over half-a-million dollars!"
Rockaway has been a global institution for collectors for 35 years, earning an unparalleled reputation for their expertise and are acknowledged as the world's foremost authorities on the value of rock and roll memorabilia; in particular, that of the Beatles. The expansion of their current offerings and continual acquisitions have earned it acknowledgement by collectors and experts of music memorabilia as one of the finest sources for quality music collectibles and vinyl worldwide, frequently attracting A-list music stars and Hollywood celebrities alike.
Hosted by master of ceremonies Chris Carter from "Breakfast with the Beatles," The Fest for Beatles Fans will include appearances by iconic TV and radio personality Bob Eubanks; Laurence Juber, Denny Lane, and Denny Seiwell of Wings, Ringo Starr's musical director Mark Rivera, Joey Molland of Badfinger, musician and producer Mark Hudson, artist Alan Aldridge, musician and producer Peter Asher, numerous authors, aficionados, and figures from Beatles history; as well as live performances every night by Liverpool - the world's finest Beatles tribute band.
