This weekend and next weekend, Neil Young + Promise of the Real will be joining the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters and the Who for the mega Desert Trip festival at the Empire Polo Grounds (home of Coachella) in Indio, California,
However, for two nights -- Wednesday, October 12 and Thursday, October 13 -- between the weekends, the Hall of Fame singer and songwriter, along with Promise of the Real (featuring Willie Nelson's son Lukas) will play two intimate shows at the Fox Theater in Pomona, California. Both shows are sold out.
Young's relationship with Promise of the Real began with his last studio album, 2015's The Monsanto Years. Earlier this year, a live album called Earth was issued. Featuring performances from the 2015 Rebel Content Tour, Earth is filled out with additional sounds, including turkeys, insects, crows, and thunder. Young says the mix was inspired by animals because "they don't have this uptight vibe. They don't have all the hatred and everything."
More recently, the Canadian musician, known for his social activism, spoke out against the Dakota Access Pipeline with a new song and video called “Indian Givers.” Check out the video below.
