All-Star Lineup Tapped For Ronnie Montrose Remembered Memorial Concert

On Saturday, January 21, guitarist Ronnie Montrose will be honored by an all-star lineup of musicians that includes members of Chicago, Foghat, Heart, Night Ranger, Quiet Riot and many others.

The concert takes place at the Yost Theater in Santa Ana, California, during NAMM weekend in neighboring Anaheim.

Singer and event producer Keith St John worked with Montrose from 1998 until 2012, when Montrose passed away. The two toured extensively and celebrated the music the guitarist made in the 1970s with Sammy Hagar -- songs like "Rock Candy," "Bad Motor Scooter" and "Rock the Nation." St. John and Montrose also wrote a lot of music together, much of it unreleased.
"Ronnie’s contribution to rock music in the early 70s heavily influenced the up and coming American rock guitarists for next two decades more than he probably ever realized or gave himself credit for," St. John  says. "I just want to give those who really appreciate Ronnie the chance to get together in a loving concert setting where we can really dig in and enjoy each other through the commonality of his music.”

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Howard Leese of Heart, says Montrose "helped light a fire in me and made me want to approach guitar playing with that kind of zeal and expression."
Following the success of 2016's first Ronnie Montrose Remembered concert, St. John realized he had to up the ante with even more star power. The result is a virtual who's who of players that have signed on for a song or two.

The musicians scheduled to play include Brad Gillis (Night Ranger) Howard Leese (Heart, Bad Company), Gilby Clarke (Guns N‘ Roses), Tracii Guns (LA Guns), Rudy Sarzo (Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne), Roger Earl (Foghat), Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot), James Kottak (Scorpions), Robin McAuley (Survivor, MSG), Danny Seraphine (Chicago), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Paul Shortino, (Rough Cutt, Raiding the Rock Vault),  Troy Luccketta (Tesla), Brad Lang (Y & T), Scotti Hill (Skid Row), Mitch Perry (Edgar Winter Band), Marq Torien (Bullet Boy), Mona Gnader (Sammy Hagar's Wabos), Chuck Wright (Quiet Riot), Robert Mason (Warrant), Sean McNabb (Dokken), Jimmy Degrasso (Black Star Riders, Alice Cooper), Mark Bonilla (Keith Emerson Band), Tommy Tutone, and very special guest Bob James, who sang with Montrose from 1975 to 1977.

The show will feature surprise cameos, speakers, never-before-seen video clips and other raw footage, showcasing Montrose’s career.

A presentation of the Rock The Nation award by Guitar Player magazine will also take place during the evening. This is a special recognition to a gifted young guitar player created for those who exude “a star quality through his or her expression on the instrument.”
A donation from concert proceeds will be made to the charity Sweet Relief, which aids musicians worldwide with special attention to medical needs. Montrose was an advocate and donor to the organization that has helped many with their needs such as housing.
