Earlier, we reported that Gregg Allman, singer, keyboardist and de facto leader of the Allman Brothers Band and a solo artist in his own right, had entered hospice. We have since learned that Allman is not in hospice. After the story broke across media outlets, it was later revealed the musician is resting at his home in Savannah, Ga. — on doctor's orders.
"I want to thank you for all the love that you are sending. Looking forward to seeing everyone again," the 69-year-old Allman said on Facebook. "Keep Rockin'."
It's unclear where the hospice rumors originated, but stories from an Iowa radio station and Relix magazine, along with a concerned tweet from country star Travis Tritt, gained a high profile before Allman's team set the record straight.
